Depart on your flight to Beijing.
Arrival in Beijing and transfer to hotel. In the evening a stroll on Tian An Men Square. It has great cultural significance as a symbol because it was the site of several key events in Chinese history. The square covers 40.5 hectares, which makes it the largest open-urban square in the world. Peking Duck Welcome Dinner.
Full day tour to the Great Wall, the only man-made structure visible to the naked eye from the moon. You will also see the Olympic Site, including the Bird's Nest.
Performance at a local school. Afternoon visit to the Beijing Zoo and the Panda House. After dinner, enjoy a Chinese Acrobatics Show.
Morning visit to the Forbidden City. In the afternoon, participate in the Hand-in-Hand Program. Each student is requested to bring a used book to be given to their counterpart in China.
Morning performance at a local school. In the afternoon visit to the Temple of Heaven, a complex of Taoist buildings situated in southeastern urban Beijing, in Xuanwu District. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. It is regarded as a Taoist temple, although Chinese Heaven worship, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, pre-dates Taoism. You will also visit the Silk Road Market for some shopping. Dinner at a local restaurant, followed by a performance at the Peking Opera.
Morning visit to the Canadian Embassy. In the afternoon, visit the Summer Palace, with its typical Chinese gardens. It is ranked amongst the most noted and classical gardens of the world. In 1998, it was listed as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
Morning visit to the Military Museum, showcasing weapons from World War II, as well as modern weapons developed in China. In the afternoon, there will be hiking at Fragrant Hills. After dinner, enjoy a Gongfu Show (martial art show).
Morning tour of Beijing Hai Park, It covers some 170 acres, half of which is water. The focus is on Bei Hai, the most northerly of the three lakes - called "seas" (hai) - that lie roughly north-south along the western side of the Imperial City. In the afternoon, visit the Silk Road Market for some last-minute souvenir shopping. Farewell Dinner.
Return to Canada.
