
Barcelona, Spain's dynamic second largest city, Historic Madrid with its Royal Palace and El Prado Museum, Moorish Cordoba and Seville, the famous Alhambra Palace of Granada and Toledo, home of El Greco.
Depart on your overnight flight to Barcelona via a European gateway.
Arrival in Barcelona. In the evening we suggest a walk on the Rambla, the most famous street in Barcelona, made up of five different sections, which follow the course of the old river-bed bordering the Gothic quarter.
Half day guided tour of Barcelona including the Gothic Quarter with its magnificent Cathedral, the Sagrada Familia (Gaudi's masterpiece), Hospital Sant Pao, and other interesting sights. In the afternoon we recommend a visit the Spanish Village, built for the 1929 exhibition to illustrate the regional styles in Spanish architecture.
Depart for Madrid by coach. On arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Half day sightseeing tour of Madrid to include Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace (from outside), Puerta del Sol, Cibeles Fountain, Gran Via and the Cervantes Memorial. In the afternoon visit the Prado Museum, probably the greatest gallery of Classical paintings in the world. It contains the works of Velasquez, Goya, Murillo, Rubens, Botticelli, Titian and more.
Depart for historic Cordoba. Your half day guided tour will include the Jewish Quarter, the Synagogue, the Alcazar and the Mosque (all from outside, except for the Mosque). Continue to Seville for dinner and the night.
Half day guided tour of Seville including Barrio Santa Cruz (the former Jewish quarter), close to the Giralda Tower and the Cathedral. You will also see the Old Tobacco factory (setting for Carmen, the famous opera), the Moorish Alcazar (from outside) and Maria Luisa Park. In the afternoon, explore Seville with your teachers.
Depart for Granada. Enjoy a tour of the spectacular Alhambra Palace, former residence of the Moorish kings. It is one of the most remarkable fortresses ever built, on top of a wooded hill commanding views of the town and the mountains. Overnight will be in Granada.
Depart for Toledo, capital of Castile. Enjoy a half day guided tour to include the Gothic Cathedral, the Synagogue, St. Tome Church and El Greco Museum. Toledo is renowned for its damascene ware and marzipan. Overnight in Toledo.
Depart for Madrid to take your flight to Toronto or Montreal.
